Adamello White War Museum
World War I. Not to forget
Adamello White War Museum was born in Temù (BS) in 1974 and, since then, it has been focusing on the preservation of the historical-military heritage of the Great War in Lombardy. The activity of the Museum includes the census, collection, cataloging, classification, preservation, and enhancement of the Historical-Military Heritage related to the so-called "White War", including both personal property (objects, finds, archives, manuscripts, printed documents, photos, movies, etc.) or real property (fortifications and permanent military buildings, military roads and trails, boundary stones, and inscriptions) regarding both the territory of the front going from Stelvio Pass to Garda Lake (a front of about 170 km, involving a total surface area of about 4,000 Km2) and the territory of the "Northern Frontier", regarding the defensive system existing between Maggiore Lake and Stelvio Pass (front of about 220 km of length).
In July 2011, the Museum opened the new exhibit area in Temù. The exhibit includes over 1,500 objects of great historical value helping visitors to understand the characteristic features of the White War like high-mountain life, artillery, the transport system, life and death in the trenches, everything during a visit studied to enhance the features of the Museum collections and to satisfy the regional and ministerial quality standards of the museum service.

Since 2009 the Museum has also been managing Fort Montecchio Nord in Colico (LC), the best preserved fortified structure in Europe, complete with its original four 149S cannon equipment with armor-clad dome. Stone and concrete sentinel watching over the area of Valtellina facing Como Lake, it represented the last defensive bulwark of Milan.
