The Park's first tourist information point
c/o Masseria Crisci - C/da Vallarano snc (Pertusillo lake)
85053 Montemurro (PZ)
In Masseria Crisci, by the Pietra del Pertusillo lake, it was built the first Tourist Information Point of the Appennino Lucano Val d'Agri Lagonegrese National Park. The two-floor building hosts a restaurant and the operational headquarters of the GAL (Italian acronym for Group of Local Action) Akiris. Thanks to an agreement between the GAL Akiris and the Appennino Lucano Park it was born the idea of creating an information point for the tourists visiting the Val d'Agri, and the GAL's headquarters itself hosts the information point. In a fascinating landscape, along the Pertusillo lake's shores, tourists can find information and brochures on the activities and events organized within the Park. The information point is the first stage of a wider project called "Laboratorio dell'accoglienza" (meaning "Reception Laboratory") aiming at making the Masseria and the Pertusillo lake one of the arrival points for tourists and departure point to visit the villages and the Val d'Agri's most important nature areas.
Within the information point's hall both tourists and other people will find some of the official and exclusive guides of the Appennino Lucano Park, in order to gain information and news regarding the environment, the hikes and the events planned by the Park. The structure - born as a private "masseria" and expropriated during the creation of the basin in the 1970s - has become a public heritage and is now managed by the GAL Akiris, which works for the improvement of the rural life and of the tourism, and for the safeguard of the nature heritage.
The visit to the Masseria Crisci offers a very good opportunity to start knowing the Val d'Agri. Just along the path running along the Pertusillo lake, a few meters from the information point, it is possible to visit the permanent land-art exhibition, a project organized by the GAL Akiris which eight artists took part in to create artworks connected with the environment.
The information point is open on Tuesdays, from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm, on Saturdays and Sundays, from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm, during the whole summer. The telephone numbers of the Park's official guides are available on the web page of the Parco Appennino lucano
