Snow is still abundant on the ridges and north-facing slopes

Walking on Sentiero Bove is not recommended

(Vogogna, 27 Apr 17) Warning! New snow in Val Grande. Wood exhausted at Scaredi bivouac. We inform hikers that snow is still abundant on the ridges and north-facing slopes, also because of new snowfalls in the last few days. Moreover, today and tomorrow the freezing level is expected to go lower (1400m), and snow is expected to fall at an elevation of 1000/1200m. Therefore, the Park Authority still recommends not to walk on Sentiero Bove, whose characteristics place it intermediately between an hiking and a mountaineering trail, suitable for well-trained and expert hikers only. There is no water along the trail. It is advisable to walk it in the absence of snow, and accompanied by an Alpine Guide. We also remind you that the wood provision at Scaredi bivouac is exhausted. The Park authority has started the procedure to replenish it; this will be accomplished between April and May, if weather conditions allow it.
