The Vesuvio, with its impending and threatening presence regulating the life of the people living on its slopes, has been one of the main causes of the cultural differences existing between this portion of Campania Felix (much more evident in the centers of the Sommano slope) and Napoli, even if the area of the Vesuvio has always been the countryside of the Kingdom Capital. Usages, customs, beliefs and superstitions in these places get mixed with paganism and religiosity.
