I grandi alberi dei Nebrodi

The book entitled "I grandi alberi dei Nebrodi" - edited by the Park Authority and the botanists Rosario Schicchi, Giuseppe Bazan, Pasquale Marino and Francesco M. Raimondo from the University of Palermo - features data sheets and pictures regarding 60 wonderful centuries-old trees selected from more than 200 plants. Some of them have extraordinary features compared to those present in other places in Sicily and in Italy's whole territory. Among those trees there is also the big "Acerone" (big maple) standing out with its more-than-20-meters height and 6-meters-large circumference at the foot of Mount Soro, Nebrodi's highest end (1,847 m), and the huge beech tree in Fago Scuro. Considering the trunk's dimension of both trees, they are the biggest ones of their species in the whole Sicily and, in all likelihood, in the whole Italy.
