The forest above the factory

  • Trail Conditions: On foot
  • Interest: Wildlife, Panorama

The proposed route starts from the entrance of via Clerici: you are on the main avenue bordered by a fourfold row of horse chestnuts that crosses the whole park to the north.
Across the large avenue there are two secluded square rooms, surrounded by tall trees and thick hedges, benches all around on the sides and, in the center, stone chessboards set in the grass.
Continuing along the avenue you come to the large roundabouts that give dynamism to the spaces.
All these geometries are due to Francesco Borella: the first architect and designer of the Park.
After the large roundabouts, you can see: the large open lawn and the forest; the border is clearly marked and emphasized by a long row of white poplars that shades the path. This is one of the great avenues that make up the main lines of the general design, define the spaces and flows, divide the woods from the meadows. The landscape architects call them telescopes, which are one of the main ideas of the Park project. After the walk in the thick of woods and avenues you can make a short stop in a grassy roundabout, which offers a good resting and observation point.
Along the wood, on the right, you walk on the spontaneous path that runs along the edge of a large meadow. Always continuing, you reach the top of a hill from where you can observe the entire northern part of the Park. Once in the vicinity of Bresso Airport, the new spectacular skyline of Milan appears.
The path ends right on the edge of the Park at its extreme northern limit: the right place to draw attention to very important elements of the Park's history and its way of growing and expanding in the metropolis.
