Cascina Belvedere Visitor Center is situated at about 1.5 km from Valenza bridge, along the SS road 494 Vigevanese, direction Mortara and Lomellina. In the past, it was a rural house and hunting lodge of a famous reserve. The structure has been restored and has been housing for over 20 years the offices of Garzaia di Valenza Nature Reserve, the first nucleus of Po River Park. The Center includes two big didactic halls with naturalistic finds representing the characteristic river environments, a scientific lab, an herbarium, and a rich feather collection. Further spaces are dedicated to environmental education activities addressed to schools, and they include a library with texts and manuals suitable for different ages. The Center also organizes refresher courses for teachers in collaboration with Provveditorati agli Studi, training courses for naturalistic tour guides, meetings, and workshops. A small guest house is available for researchers and Park collaborators. From the Cascina, tourists can go along a path leading to observation huts for bird watching and naturalistic photography, accessible by previous booking.
