Parco della fascia fluviale del Po - tratto Cuneese

Points of Interest

In the Municipality of Crissolo, the first town crossed by the river Po, deserve our attention:

  • "Buco delle Traversette", the first tunnel of the Alps built in 1480 by the Marquisate of Saluzzo
  • Rio Martino cave, with its wonderful waterfall, and the several speleological aspects of the valley
  • the ancient S. Chiaffredo Sanctuary, a legendary martyr of the Tebea Legion
  • the village of Borgo which preserves on the houses some religious frescoes and some rocky inscriptions of great ethnographic interest.

It is possible to carry out some tours from the Municipality of Oncino to the Alpine lakes of Tartarea, Bulè, Alpet; from the historical path to Crissolo along a quite plain route, passing S. Giacomo chapel, to Madonna del Bel Faggio, where there is a centuries-old beech of great monumental interest and a popular religious place very important for the inhabitants of Oncino.

In the Saluzzese plain we find the architectonic-religious complex of Staffarda Abbey, an ancient monument built by the Cistercian monks in the year 1135.
