Sciuscella

Carob-shaped traditional Christmas sweet covered with chocolate icing. The dough is prepared with honey, flour, sugar, and cocoa scented with aromatic spices like cinnamon, cloves, and others. The ingredients are mixed very well and left "ripening", letting the dough stand for at least one day before shaping and cooking it. Immediately after cooking, Sciuscelle are very hard, but they become softer after covering them with a handmade icing based on sugar and cocoa.
