Reconstructing the relationship between man and nature
The Parco del Serio Nord, comprised in the area of the municipalities of Seriate, Pedrengo, Scanzorosciate, Gorle e Villa di Serio, extends along the river Serio which is about 15 km long. Its altimetric profile ranges from 230 m above sea level in Seriate to 440 m in Villa di Serio, at the top of the little hill area included in park's perimeter. Aim of the Park is to improve this connecting area, characterized by intense urbanization processes which are likely to wipe out the original features of the river and even impair every natural element. Roads, buildings and facilities have fragmented the territory so much that wildlife cannot develop as their biorhythm would make them do. On the contrary, it is necessary to recreate natural corridors which can let people, vegetables and animals to have balanced and ecological habitats at their disposal again.
