Parco Naturale Regionale Sirente-Velino

(Rocca di Mezzo, 29 Dec 11) The voting for the re-establishment of the Park Community took place in the Park Authority Head Offices. For the political body of the protected area, the current vice-Mayor of Goriano Sicoli, Sandro Ciacchi, has been unanimously appointed. With him, the vice-President and Mayor of Massa D'Albe, Municipality recently included in the Park, Giorgio Aldo Blasetti. The voting took place after the approval of Sirente Velino Park reorganization law, according to which the powers of the main members of the Park Community will be strengthened. Among the other things, it will no longer be possible to put it under the administration of an external commissioner and the Park Community will have the possibility to carry out managerial functions until all the statutory bodies have been reorganized, like the council and the Park president. The President of Sirentina mountain community, Luigi Fasciani, expressed his satisfaction. Meanwhile, within the end of January, also the Park President should be appointed. Sirente Velino Park was established in 1989 with a regional law and covers over 54 ha, including 22 Municipalities scattered in the Marsicano, Subequano, and Aquilano territories. An area with a great environmental value heading for the end of the commissioner stage.
