River Ticino, Carlo Cattaneo, and the Boat Railway: Tale of a Dream which Became Truth

In the second half of the 19th century, the upper area of the river Ticino was interested by a courageous work: a horse-drawn railway line, the so-called "Ipposidra", whose traces are still partly evident today. This small volume, carried out above all with didactic purposes, expresses the continuity with what has been already carried out by the Park on this issue.
In 2002, the strategic points in which the ancient Ipposidra meets roads and trails used today have been equipped with trail markers enabling its recognition.
Thanks to the passion and sensitivity of the authors, Francesco Ogliari and Gaspare Cilluffo, now we also suggest a description of the ancient itinerary and its historical representation.
