  • Length: 9.650 km

You start from the last houses of Sant'Arcangelo, in the area of Borgo Cenaioli. Proceed uphill along a gravel road among the olive trees to arrive to a pull-in area managed by La Marzolana cooperative and take the Peace Trail, which goes uphill advancing into the border of the woods. You can immediately note the features of the lush woody and shrubby Mediterranean vegetation. In locality Pianella, you can take the first break at a nice clearing with tables and benches: there is water and a wooden structure utilized as an information centre by the Cooperative, where you can find further information and naturalistic finds concerning Mount Marzolana (586 m. amsl). From this viewpoint you can enjoy a first sight from above on the Trasimeno Lake and the Polvese Island. Continue along the gravel road which advances into the woods on the right, proceeding decidedly uphill. In this area the lushness of the vegetation is even more evident. You can in fact note the strong presence of holm oaks, in addition to strawberry trees, Manna ashes, broom, cistus, heather, Downy oaks and hawthorn. Past the Spring, the woods keep becoming thicker, with the predominant presence of holm oaks, later meeting some very big specimens of strawberry trees. You proceed uphill to a long, slowly ascending path which takes us to a clearing with tables and benches. Continue along the trail advancing into the woods. From here you can appreciate views of the Montalera Castle, the hills of Panicale and Piegaro and the agricultural plain facing the lake. When exiting the woods, you find yourself in the immediate vicinity of an agroturistical structure well fitted in the landscape. The olive orchard on the summit, surrounding the farmhouses, is very beautiful. In the distance on the left you can distinguish Agello and the hills towards Perugia and, in the background, the Apennine relieves. It is necessary to skirt the woods in order to reach the gravel road of Vallicelle, which connects Montali to Sant'Arcangelo. Shortly, taking a left, a pleasant mostly downhill walk takes us back to the starting point.
