A Park in the Heart of the Cottian Alps

Val Troncea is the head of the drainage basin of torrent Chisone, whose springs are situated in the Mountains Barifreddo and Appenna. The valley formed thanks to the action of the glaciers and erosive phenomena which are still taking place. Situated in the heart of the Cottian Alps, the Park covers an area of 3,280 hectares in the upper part of the basin of torrent Chisone. The protected territory is mainly delimited by summits of three thousand meters of height and entirely lies in the Municipality of Pragelato, owner of the 89% of the land.
