The Park promotes the conservation and enhancement of the environmental, architectural, landscape, historical-cultural and technical heritage of Romagna and Marche’s sulphur mines, which used to be important extraction sites at European level, with significant economic, social and cultural impact on the surrounding areas. Through cultural, scientific and educational projects, the Park also preserves the memory of generations of miners whose labour lay at the foundation of Italy’s chemical sector development.
