The geological path is dedicated to the abbot Antonio Stoppani, Italian scholar and scientist from the 19th century, who described the glacial phenomena of the area in his famous book entitled "Il Bel Paese" (meanig "Beautiful Country").
Dedicated to the glacial phenomena
The glacial wells are peculiar elements of the path, and they are the proof of the Alto-Adige's glacier: along 3.5 kilometers, walking through the forest, one can identify tens of wells whose shape recalls huge pots quenching the thirst of the giants. The biggest and most fascinating one is the Bus de Poieti, from which we can descend through a metal ladder. Along the path one can admire the glacial erratics, which were originated by the glaciations, while on the calcareous rocks there are plowed fields and small wells, sign of the karst phenomena.
