Biodiversity and landscape in a unique land with a thousand-year old history

The Fiemme Reserves Network extends on the right bank of the Avisio stream between the Mount Corno Nature Park and the Costalunga mountain pass, that separates the Latemar massif from the Catinaccio mountain group. Its reserves cover most of the Val di Fiemme and a small part of the Val di Fossa that are two of Trentino's and the whole Dolomites' best valleys.
The richness of the rural landscape and the presence of different extraordinary environments (peat bogs, wetlands, dry environments, river and forest ecosystems, swiss pine forests on calcareous-dolomitic substrates) are the elements that better characterize the Fiemme-Destra Avisio Reserve, and that make it one of the significant biodiversity safeguard areas in the Alps. The symbiotic relationship between environment and people has been the mainstay of this reality for many years.
