The Mountain Hut
Valasco Mountain Hut, Royal Hunting Lodge, is situated at 1,764m of altitude and was used in the past by the Italian Kings as a holiday residence and a hunting lodge. It lies in a large alluvial plain, in the middle of an interesting high-mountain peat bog, in an area rich in water and lakes. It is dominated by the presence of Mt. Matto, an imposing summit of over 3,000m.

Tours
A series of hiking itineraries give the opportunity to visit the mountains surrounding Valasco plateau. These itineraries give the opportunity to carry out traverses, to climb to the surrounding summits, and to carry out ring-routes.
Here you will find their main features, but not their detailed descriptions: the latter are available in the Mountain Hut, reading the volumes mentioned in the bibliography.
>>>Climbing
Cima di Valcuca (2,453m), Placconata del Valasco is a gneiss-granite wall offering a good grip and facing north-west; therefore the best period for climbing is summer. After the rain, the wall takes some time to dry up, therefore it is better to choose a dry period.
>>>Ski Touring
Vallone del Valasco offers several beautiful ski touring opportunities. In spring, when the snow is balanced, you have the greatest number of possibilities and alternative routes.
