The Circeo National Park is one of the places where the UNESCO MAB concept was born and developed. In fact, UNESCO included the "Foresta Demaniale del Circeo" (Selva di Circe) in the Programm in 1977. In 2013, after one of the inspections carried out in the MAB Reserves by UNESCO, the Circeo Reserve expanded up to to the present borders, including the municipalities of Sabaudia and San Felice Circeo and part of the municipalities of Latina and Terracina.
