Riserva Naturale Regionale di Macchiatonda

The Sea

  • Trail Conditions: On foot
  • Interest: Flora, Wildlife

Along the short stretch of beach, you can gather and observe many different shells, as well as other things, like "balls" of posidonia, seaweed, eggs of molluscs, and skeletons of sea urchins, everything that in the "clean" beach of a bathing establishment would be promptly swept away by the eager rakes of the lifeguards. Macchiatonda is a clay wedge entering the sea and a stop area situated along the main migratory routes used by birds.
