Near Punta dell'Elefante (the elephant's point), a well-known area recognizable from the proboscis-shaped rock, the calcareous cliffs fall rather quickly to depths between the 20 and 30 meters.
The seabed morphology is uneven: short plateaus alternate with banks or huge boulders piled up on the sand.
