It connects Gressoney-St-Jean with Courmayeur crossing the northern section of Valle d'Aosta. Fontainemore is situated in the new stretch between Donnas and Gressoney, covering the area completing the mountain ring-route of Regione Autonoma Valle d'Aosta connecting Alta Via no. 1 with no. 2.
