Riserva Naturale Orientata Monte Genuardo e S.Maria del Bosco

S. Maria del Bosco Abbey
It lies just a few kilometers far from Contessa Entellina and is surrounded by an evergreen forest. According to the legend, the first abbey was built for the will of a group of hermits living in the wood who found, in the trunk of a tree, the image of a Madonna to whom they dedicated the building.

The Pillow Lava
Pillow lava form when an underwater eruption takes place: on the seabed, fissures appear and the incandescent magma reascends. Once it reaches the surface of the water, it rapidly hardens.
