Riserva Naturale Monte Rufeno

The Upper Viterbese Potato is a fresh product. It comes from the northern area of Bolsena Lake. The production area is geographically delimited by the Municipalities of Grotte di Castro, S. Lorenzo Nuovo, Gradoli, Latera, Bolsena, Onano, Valentano, and Acquapendente. This cultivation boasts an ancient tradition, even if it has particularly widespread only in the last thirty years. Over the years, the potato cultivation has had a swinging trend both as far as areas involved and production. However, its production has recently increased also thanks to the technical assistance to the quality control activities and the supply of conservation and packaging equipment directly carried out by the producers through their associations.
