Riserva Naturale Speciale e Zona di Salvaguardia della Palude di San Genuario

Palude di San Genuario Special Nature Reserve and Conservation Area lies in the territory where the Po River Park, Sorti della Partecipanza di Trino Woodland, and Fontana Gigante Biotope are situated. The area, together with the area of Fontana Gigante, has origins linked to the drainage of natural aquatic environments and the excavation of basins for hunting and sports fishing purposes and, in the past, for peat winning; subsequently, because of the abandonment of the activities, the two areas underwent a gradual renaturalization process which led to the formation of complex marshy habitats of great wildlife interest, in particular for the bird species populating them, but also of entomological and floristic interest.
