The chapel illustrates the annunciation by the Archangel Gabriel to the Madonna that she will become the Mother of God and is part of the complex of Nazareth, one of the most ancient complexes of Sacro Monte. It was built not many years after 1514, publication date of the first guidebook of the complex.
Originally, it had to reproduce the house of Loreto and housed the statue of the Madonna with the Child by Gaudenzio Ferrari, now placed in the chapel of Joseph's Second Dream (c. 9).
