In the large plateau situated at the summit of the hill, Galeazzo Alessi (1565-1569 approximately) had planned the entrance through "Porta Aurea" to the town of Jerusalem, surrounded by walls. The Porta was built only in 1723 by the architect Giovanni Battista Morondi, decorated with scenes from the Old Testament by the painter Borsetti, painted again in the late 19th century by Francesco Burlazzi.
