Besides the presence of a unique floristic area, the importance of the area is given by:
1- coastal dune strips colonized by a characteristic vegetation able to resist the saltiness of the soil and the summer dryness, where the Kentish Plover nests, a rare bird laying its eggs on the sand;
2- the marshy wetlands behind the dunes, where among the canebrakes the migratory birds find shelter and food
