Riserve des Cascades de Banfora

Environmental Education

The Ecomuseum of the Reserve Environmental education is the main issue of the project between Lame del Sesia Park and Riserve des Cascades de Banfora, in the south-western areas of the country, where the climate is wetter (800-1,200mm/per year of rain) and there are some lakes and rivers, besides the 14 classified state reserves; a renovated building will soon house the ecomuseum of the Reserve, which will work as a visitor center providing information on the natural environment, the local tourist potentialities represented by the "falaises" of Sindou and Fabédougou, by Tengrelé Lake, by the waterfalls of Tourny and Karfiguela, by the village of Néguéni, by handicrafts and local folklore. Moreover, it will also work as a workshop for the staff training.
The Naturalistic Museum of Carmagnola has put at disposal its experience for the creation of the ecomuseum and for the training of the African staff in the Museum itself.
Some classes of the municipality of Trino V.se have started contacts with African schools for the exchange of knowledge between pupils, helped by Agostino Pela, in charge of the educational activities in Lame del Sesia Park.
At the moment, a web site is under construction, making communications easier; two students of the Faculty of Agriculture, Laura Asteggiano and Luca Giordani are in Banfora to study local plants, an activity which should be linked with the similar one carried out in the Urban Park of Ouagadougou in order to form a "flora" of the various climatic areas of Burkina Faso.

A New European Project

A new education and sensitization European project will be implemented soon. It will involve Regione Piemonte, Parks and NGOs of Piedmont, and the Rhone Alpes Region in an initiative addressed to schools. The project aims at the education and sensitization to development, and its borders will be enlarged through homogeneous activities.
