Al Vecchio Convento: 'Albergo diffuso' and Restaurant in Romagna

Al Vecchio Convento is an Albergo Diffuso, which best can be translated to "Spread out Hotel", situated in the historical centre of a medieval village, Portico di Romagna, in the Appennine hills between Florence and Ravenna in Tuscan Romagna.
Staying in a spread out hotel means living the village from within, having as neighbors the houses with the local inhabitants and not just hotel-rooms with tourists. Living with the village also means leaving behind stress and letting yourself being absorbed by the more relaxed rythm of local life.>>>

The Rooms

Our rooms are located in the centre of Portico di Romagna: 9 rooms in the mainbuilding, where you also find the restaurant, and 6 in the annex 50 metres from the mainbuilding.
The rooms are furnished with the original 18th Century furniture, all with bathroom and the following modern facilities: free internet wi-fi, lcd tv and telephone, electric kettle for tea and coffee, we also offer laundry service.

The Restaurant and the Cellar
In the kitchen of the restaurant founded by chef Giovanni Cameli, we now find his son, Matteo whit his team.   In recent years Matteo has worked in some of the best restaurant in Europe, and with the inspiration of these places he create his dishes that combine love for Romagna cuisine, of our area in the Apennines with new techniques and ways of thinking about cooking.>>>
Activities: A different way from traditional tourism.

You can ‘live’ the village and be part of it, you can participate in our cooking classes, go truffle hunting, discover the area through wine and typical products tasting.
You can study Italian in our Italian language school, take part in guided tours by e-bike or by foot in the national Park of the Casentinesi Forests, or excursions to the cities of Art.
