REGIONAL NATURE PARK OF BEIGUA

Beigua Park: the "naturally" hospitable park
In a territory rich in contrasts, as the north-western region of Liguria, pressed between the mountains and the sea, Beigua Park, the largest regional nature park in Liguria extends over an area of 8,715 hectares and straddles the provinces of Genoa and Savona. It is an exemplary cross section of the region where it is possible to find, along even short trails, such vastly differing environments and landscapes as to amaze any visitor.

A spectacular balcony of mountains containing ophiolitic formations overlooks the sea where nature, landscape, history, culture and ancient traditions are all elements of great value and interest. Twenty-six kilometers of mountain ridges, a short distance from the Italian Riviera, with prairies and rare bogs in the high mountains, thick forests of Beech, oak and chestnuts, steep cliffs and occasional bits of Mediterranean vegetation, where the Golden Eagle nests, the Wolf hunts and many species of lesser fauna of particular scientific interest can be found: a mosaic of environmental types that has led the Beigua mountain range to be considered one of the zones richest in biodiversity in Liguria.
