REGIONAL NATURAL RESERVE MONTI ROGNOSI

A green island in a sea of culture
With its unusual, fascinating natural landscape, its rocks and rare plants, the Nature Reserve of the Rognosi Mountains is a pleasant place to stop during an itinerary among the art towns and cities of the Tuscan Valtiberina.

The territory of the Reserve is scattered with the characteristic dark green rocks and is located between the towns of Anghiari, a tiny, enchanted village perched on a hilltop, and Caprese Michelangelo, the birthplace of the great Buonarroti, but it is easy to reach from other places like Sansepolcro, Monterchi and Pieve Santo Stefano, just as rich in historic and artistic treasures.

The area, that contains evidence of its past as an Etruscan mining district, can be visited by following the Nature Trails that cross it. There are activities of environmental education and tours operaed by the official and exclusive guides of the Natural Reserves of the Province of Arezzo, which manages the Nature Reserve.
