Villa Montale Historical Mansion is a prestigious dwelling in pure Art Deco style, built at the end of 1880.
The villa is a historical landmark, as it belonged to Nobel Prize for Literature (1975) Eugenio Montale, who lived and wrote some of his beautiful poems in this estate.
Cinque Terre Riviera rents out only one exclusive, luxury, vast and elegant apartment on the first floor of the villa.
The building is on top of a small hill in Fegina, in the western side of Monterosso, near the village’s famous beaches. When visiting the house you will still find the peace and beauty that inspired the poet: from its windows you can enjoy a relaxing view over the sea and the pine and palm trees of the vast park surrounding the house, a treasure of silence and beauty shading the mansion and keeping it cool even in the hottest months.
Today the villa is divided in three apartments (one on each floor), belonging to three different private owners. Apartment “I Limoni”, available for rent, is on the second floor.

Apartment I Limoni
The entrance opens into a vast antechamber, which leads to the majestic living cum dining room, decorated with incredible frescos like all the apartment rooms. This one has two large windows, one of which with a small balcony, both overlooking the sea and the gorgeous park of the villa with its centuries-old palm trees.
The floor was manufactured with a typical Ligurian technique known as “graniglia” or “Genoese Carpet”, a classic and elegant decor widespread among upper-class Genoese families between 1800 and 1900.
Two comfortable sofas and a table that can accommodate up to 10 people are perfect to enjoy a delicious dinner, or just the peace of the place.
The vast living and dining room is the heart of the house, and from there the rest of the apartment is accessed: five bedrooms (four with king-sized beds, one with two single beds), three luxury bathrooms with showers, renovated in 2018, and the kitchen.
The villa has no air conditioning and it does not need it: being in a shaded and aired position, it is cool even in the summer.

The fully equipped kitchen is typical of XIX century Ligurian houses, even if the furniture and appliances are brand new. There are gas hobs and oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, toaster, boiler for tea and coffee, Italian and American coffee pots.
