Being a Guide: more like a holiday with you than a real job!
Italy has a lot to offer everywhere, but I think I was born in a truly special place. The border between three of the best known and admired Italian regions: Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna and Liguria.
Two National Parks and three Regional Parks (each of which is not even 20 km from my own home) prove that this is a really unique place. And if this is not enough, try to find another place in Italy with marble quarries that have been active for over 2,000 years. And what a marble! Unparalleled in the world.
Moreover, Cinque Terre and Portovenere are a World Heritage, and there are the only two mountains outside of the Alpine range to be classified as Alps; or should I get started on Portofino, “discovered” in the 1950s by a guy who used a whaling ship as personal yacht?
Not convinced yet? Then I’ll only say Parma ham and Parmigiano Reggiano.
So far I’ve only mentioned what almost everybody knows, and which deserves to be experienced at least once in life, but there is much more.
Vermentino di Luni, Bianco delle Cinque Terre, Colonnata lard, testaroli, marocca, panigacci, patona, castagnaccio, Monterosso anchovies, mesciua, cian, and I could go on much longer.
