Alum itinerary

Trail Conditions: On foot

The alum itinerary starts from the quarry of Poggio Speranza, and near the Pian delle Gore it forks southeast towards the Cavone, and northeast towards Monteleo. The Cavone can be recognized thanks to the presence of the Allumiera di Massa Marittima (factory for the production of alum), which is mentioned in some documents of the 15th century.
