By Boat in Search of Flamingos

Sunday 2 June 2024

From the Cervia Salt Mine Visitor Centre, we set off in an electric boat. It is a very simple boat with wooden benches that can carry around 35 people, gliding silently along the canals surrounding the Salt Mine, where the water is shallow, and you cannot feel seasick. The water depth in the canals is 1.5 m minimum and 1.8 m maximum, while in the Salt Mine's basins is 5 cm minimum and 30 cm maximum.

With the boat, we approach the basins and discover the many species of birds that inhabit the Salt Mine. While we go unnoticed, we can capture moments in the animals' lives, take photographs and plunge ourselves into incredible views of water and sky.
A short walk brings us even closer to the basins where, if we are lucky, we can admire many pink flamingos.
The Salt Mine is the southernmost area of the Po Delta Park, a true paradise for birdwatchers!
