Water is a major player in the Simbruini Mountains, the name itself of these mountains suggests so ! Today's itinerary runs in the heart of the Park: we will go through impressive beech forests, areas of coniferous reforestation and refreshing fountains. We will focus on different habitats and on the importance of their preservation for conservation of plant and animal species.
From Fonte Suria (730 m) we will reach the San Leonardo Fountain, follow up to Colle San Leonardo and Monte San Leonardo (1526 m). From San Leonardo we will continue close to the boundary of the Faito Integral Reserve, between Valle Cupa and Entratura Valisa, until we reach Faito fountain. From here we descend to Le Fontane, where we continue along a wide gravel road (the last half-hour is a little boring) to intercept the path we followed on the way up, now close to Suria.
