The Loggerhead Sea Turtle Recovery Center of Asinara, a structure managed by CTS, is situated in loc. Fornelli, in the southern section of the island. It deals with the recovery and treatment of loggerhead sea turtles in trouble; once healed, the turtles are released in their natural environment and equipped with recognition plates in order to follow their movements.
The Center is open all year round. It is managed by a specialized staff consisting of a person in charge and a technical collaborator; they follow all the hospitalization and release stages. The Center has been created within the Project Tartanet, financed by the European Commission through the program LIFE Natura.
It also belongs to the Regional Network for the Conservation of Marine Fauna.
