Rapporti 7 - Fauna acquatica ipogea, Ortotteri e Chirotteri del Parco Nazionale Dolomiti Bellunesi

Final report of the project: Biodiversity hotspot. Indagini faunistiche su gruppi poco noti di Vertebrati ed Invertebrati di elevato valore zoogeografico, evoluzionistico ed ecologico

The volume illustrates, in a rigorous scientific way but addressing at the same time to a broader audience, the results of the recent research activities on the invertebrates living in the caves of Piani Eterni, on the grasshoppers and bats populating the Park.
In the bowels of the Dolomites, five new species for science have been discovered, including an earthworm whose nearest relative lives in the far Baikal Lake.
The best way to celebrate 2010, the Year of Biodiversity.
The text is both in Italian and English.
