The Foce dell'Isonzo Regional Nature Reserve, situated in the eastern side of the region Friuli Venezia Giulia along the last stretch of the river of the same name, develops on a territory included in the municipality of Staranzano, San Canzian d'Isonzo, Fiumicello and Grado, and it extends over a surface of 2,338 hectares, 1,154 out of which are situated in marine areas.
Established in 1996, it largely coincides with the SAC/SPA "Foce dell'Isonzo - Isola della Cona" IT3330005. The symbol of the Reserve is the Eurasian curlew.
