Environmental Education in Macchiatonda Reserve

Guided Visits (by previous booking for schools and groups) with possibility to combine guided tours to Santa Severa Castle.

Gens Program, projects "Piccole Guide", "Guide esperte", "Ragazzi del Parco" and "Amici del Parco": organized with the local schools to provide a thorough knowledge of the territory (environment, tradition, history) and teach during the year interpretative instruments to the students of local elementary and middle schools.

We organize courses and initiatives of environmental promotion dedicated to issues of public interest, like:

  • qualifying mycology course for the achievement of the license
  • bird watching course
  • wildlife first aid course, etc.

Naturally Accessible: The protected area has been organizing for some years social projects dedicated to people with problems in order to broaden the cognitive horizons and relational abilities of the participants, as well as to improve their psychophysical conditions. The aim of the activities is to help the participants to acquire techniques, abilities, and skills for a possible and desirable social re-instatement and to improve their psychophysical conditions: the activities include the management of the forest nursery for the reproduction of small plants of autochthonous vegetable species, the cultivation of the Roman artichoke (Campagnano variety) with organic methods, the recognition of the flora and fauna of the coastal environment, as well as measures for the maintenance and care of wet areas.
