St. Anselmo Biscuit

St. Anselmo Biscuit is a biscuit with double leavening and anise aroma.
Ring-shaped, with a weight of about 1 kilo, it was called in the past "Bread of St. Anselmo" because, according to the tradition, it was a sweet bread which the town bishop, St. Anselmo, distributed among the poor and the pilgrims on their way to the Holy City of Rome and offered as a sign of solidarity and consolation to the poor, the orphans, and the needy of the town. Since then, this tradition has been maintained and thousands of biscuits are still prepared using the same recipe that has been jealously handed down from mother to daughter.
