The area is characterized by karst morphology, with hills, dolinas and other surface karst formations.
The karst brushwood with hop hornbeam and wooly oak occupies wide areas, but woods of bay oaks and turkey oaks are present too. The deep dolinas host some species of rare flowers and this site is one of the few in the entire region.
The area is home to a significant number of wild cats and European hedgehogs, while the number of black bears and jackals is marginal so they can be seen only occasionally.
