Solco Dritto Chick-pea from Valentano

Solco Dritto Chick-pea (literally, "straight furrow chick-pea") is a leguminous plant cultivated in a limited area within the Municipalities of Valentano and Acquapendente. Its name derives from a rural tradition of the Municipality of Valentano called "the straight furrow event", held every year on 14th August in the plain beneath the town. The chick-pea is obtained in these areas with traditional agricultural techniques, without using chemical products. Moreover, several holdings practice organic farming. The involved soils, characterized by a high content of potassium and a low content of calcium, give the Solco Dritto Chick-pea superior organoleptic features, above all as far as fast cooking is concerned.
