The Special Conservation Area "Lago Minisini e Rivoli Bianchi" develops between the hills and the pre-Alpine area, on the reliefs to the right of the Tagliamento basin. The lower altitude, near Ospedaletto, is 218 metres above sea level, while the higher one corresponds to 1053 meters above sea level. The site is divided between the municipalities of Venzone (22%) and Gemona del Friuli (78%), for a rather small extension of 402 hectares. There are no inhabited centres inside; the nearest are Ospedaletto to the south and Venzone to the north. The west side of the site is close to the State Road 13 and to the railway axis connecting Udine to Tarvisio-Boscoverde. Given its accessibility, there is a high tourist and sporting presence.
