Meadows and woods frequented by bears and wild cats
The area covered by the Special Conservation Area is about 213 hectares, inside the Municipality of Savogna. The ZSC is located on the border between the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and Slovenia. The area develops vertically along the eastern slopes of Mount Matajur, one of the highest peaks of the Julian Prealps, from which derives the site name.
