St. Andrea Island

Since 1998 the Archaeological Department of the Rovereto City Museum has carried out regular excavation campaigns in the S. Andrea Island, in the provincial biotope "Loppio Lake".
The archaeological researches, which are still underway, led to the discovery of a stratified archaeological site, with finds dating back to the prehistory, to the Late Antiquity and to the Middle Ages, and even to the World War I, and they particularly made it possible to study an ancient built-up area which extended over about 6,400 square meters, the summit part of the island.
