Matese Regional Park was established on 12th April 2002 to safeguard one of the largest and most important calcareous and dolomitic massifs of our region. It covers 33,326.53 hectares and is one of the most interesting areas of the central-southern Apennines from a naturalistic and environmental point of view. It characterizes, with the configuration of the respective slopes, the territory of Campania - being the eastern limit of the plateau of the upper area of Caserta - and the territory of Molise located by the main road Benevento - Isernia.
