The Park has been named after the mountain that today is known as Monte della Stella. Today, like in the past, it is considered a particularly favorable point to watch over the coast of Cilento and the stretch of sea in front of it. In the 12th century, the fortresses built on the mountain lost their importance and were replaced by one of the centers built along its ridges.
The castle that was built here is still well preserved and witnesses the feudal presence of Sanseverino family lasted until 1552. Also the remaining part of the town is particularly charming: in perfect harmony with the castle, it still preserves the characteristic colors of the local houses.
