The reserve establishment aims at protecting a marshy and swampy area that is little known locally, but which, like all small Italian wetlands, plays a major role in the overall strategies to stop the loss of biodiversity. The most interesting and monitored portion of this site is located between the small Sant’Agnese lake, an artificial stretch of water owned by a fishermen’s association, and some natural reed beds.
